Where did the idea of the ‘Update My Browser’ tool come from?
The concept of ‘Update My Browser’ came to mind when I was working on my website, Temp Mail, which is a temporary mail service that provides temporary emails where you can get unlimited emails to sign up on different websites.
This is actually a privacy feature for users to prevent their data or unnecessary mail, and our temp mail allows them to sign up on different sites without using their personal email.
While working on this, I realized that most hacking attacks come through your browser, whether on your laptop, desktop, or server. This happens because most people don’t update their browsers, and they lose their data and privacy because hackers are always looking for vulnerabilities.
That’s when my journey started with ‘Update My Browser,’ but the journey was not easy because creating software and marketing it is not an easy task.
Execution and planning to implement the idea –
The first step in the journey was to finalize the idea. We researched and found that most people don’t know they are using an outdated browser because the browser generally doesn’t notify users of its latest version. So I thought, why not have a website that fetches data about whether the browser is up to date or not and gives notifications about outdated browsers, also providing the solution to update your browser with one click.
And that’s where I got the idea for ‘Update My Browser.’
How I developed this tool
After ideation, the second step was development. How could I develop that type of site when I didn’t have any prior knowledge of development? Generally, an entrepreneur wants to save their time by avoiding unnecessary things they don’t know. I also didn’t have a marketing team because I come from an SEO background, so I also had to focus on hiring a marketing agency.
For development, I had two choices: one was to hire a website developer or freelancer, and the other was to find the best web development company to build my website.
I hired a web development company to turn my vision into reality. When most people hire a company, they look at its experience in the related field, and I did the same.
Choosing the best hosting server –
Many people face problems when their site can’t handle traffic. I read somewhere that this may happen when companies buy cheap templates and don’t have enough knowledge about them, so I personally focused on hiring a company that uses Shopify, WordPress, or premium Wix templates bought from reputable sites.
I also needed experts to handle hacking attacks on my site, but it is not as easy as we think because when we give the project to beginners to save money, they don’t have enough experience to write the perfect code. This is important to ensure the site is secure from hacking and runs fast.
We had to make sure the website loaded quickly because we had to think about user experience and give them a smooth experience.
SEO Planning
Then came the SEO part. Since I’m from the SEO field, I could manage all operations easily. So I did my website’s SEO in 1-2 days.
Finally, the launch part came into play. We needed a good hosting site that provided fast speeds. After much work, I found the best hosting company that gave the ideal server speed for ‘Update My Browser.’
How I made the privacy policy for ‘update my browser’
Once I found the ideal server, I focused on making the privacy policy for my website that explains how we use user data and other legalities that are important for any website.
I found a site that generates premium privacy policies in simple steps. I could have written it myself, but I was hesitant about the legality. If I missed something, I might be in trouble, so I didn’t take any risks and used a privacy policy generator. But I edited the privacy policy after generating it to ensure it aligned with how we secure our software.
We added some important parts into the privacy policy, such as not allowing or using any pornography content or advertisements on our site, and I also added that we don’t allow fake users or dummy content on our site because after the end that all made my site useless, because at the beginning I decided that my site is always be safe and secured or give the right service to the right user so, I added a specific policy point that we don’t allow fake content on ‘update my browser’.
Conclusion
After all the basic setup, we were ready for the site launch.
After the launch, we encountered some difficulties, like Google not identifying ‘Update My Browser.’
So I watched several videos, including long YouTube playlists, that helped me understand how to do the right SEO for my website. I also read many articles on doing the right SEO for niche oriented website
After all the ups and downs, I can proudly say that ‘Update My Browser’ is currently ranked in the top 10, and I am working hard on the site to take it to the top. This is my successful but not yet complete journey for my site.
